Clean-Up Day – Sign Up Now! This annual event funds the Chamber’s graffiti removal program. Over 300 people take to the streets of Van Nuys to pick up trash, remove debris, and paint-off graffiti. Begins meeting at the end of February for the June event. Meeting place, dates, and time TBA. Co-Chairs – Ron Feinstein, All Valley Washer Service, Sonya Walker, New Directions for Youth Staff: Sonya Walker Business Resource Committee – Sign Up Now! Plans the monthly Network Connection Breakfast, Seminars and Workshops and develops ideas to further promote business education and “network-ability.” Meets the first Thursday of each month 8:00 a.m. – Chamber Conference Room. Chair – Fred Snyder, Ameritel Staff: Sonya Walker Business Watch – Sign Up Now! Business Watch includes owners and managers of businesses who have joined forces to rid the area of crime, drugs, graffiti and prostitution. Members identify and prioritize common problems, share solutions and ideas, and work closely with the LAPD. Meets quarterly at Wickes Home Furniture Chair: Flip Smith, Flip’s Tire Center Staff: PJ Bailey Golf Classic Committee – Sign Up Now! Organizes and plans the annual fundraising golf tournament and silent auction. Meeting place, dates, and time TBA. Chairs – Rick Pohl, Adelphia Communication Staff: Sonya Walker Government Affairs Committee – Sign Up Now! Monitors, analyzes and develops policy recommendations on local, state and federal legislation affecting the business community and serves in a liaison capacity with elected officials. Works with public officials to ensure business input and representation at all levels of government. Meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 8:30 a.m. – Chamber Conference Room. Chair: Ross Bradder, The Church on the Way Staff: Nancy Hoffman Vanyek Health Fair Committee – Sign Up Now! Organizes the Chamber’s Health Fair – an annual event to increase awareness of health care services through health screenings, activities, materials, demonstrations, and information. Meeting place, and time TBA. Chair: Jim Sullivan, Mission Community Hospital Staff: Sonya Walker Inaugural Ball Committee – Sign Up Now! Plans the Chamber’s annual gala — an evening of dinner, dancing, and entertainment, as well as honoring community members. Held the last Friday in March of each year. Meeting place, dates, and time TBA. Chair: Bert Seneca, Airtel Plaza Hotel Staff: Nancy Hoffman Vanyek Legislative Review Council – Sign Up Now! Designed as a quick response team to legislation affecting business. Meets as needed Chair: Ross Bradder, Church on the Way Staff: Nancy Hoffman Vanyek Latino Business Committee – Sign Up Now! Develops programs for members to promote their business to the Latino consumer, as well as promote Chamber membership to the Latino business community. Meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 8:00 a.m. – United PAB Bank. Chair – Edison Freire, Kaiser Federal Bank Staff: Sonya Walker Latino Consumer Expo Committee – Sign Up Now! This annual showcase brings together local merchants and our diverse consumer market within a trade show atmosphere. Meeting place, dates, and time TBA. This committee is responsible for conveying the Chamber’s brand to the community and creating new programs that enhance the Chamber’s visibility in the community. Meets the third Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. – Chamber Conference Room. Chair – Peter Green, Vajen Management Group Staff: Nancy Hoffman Vanyek VANGUARD – Sign Up Now! Mid Valley ambassadors perform public relations functions for the Chamber. VANGUARDs act as hosts at special events, assist in member retention, and volunteer at monthly Mixers and Ribbons Cuttings. Meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 8:00 a.m. – Chamber Conference Room. Co-Chair – Tim Walsh, Morgan Stanley Co-Chair – Rachel Unell, Accounting for Success Staff: Sonya Walker Valley Business Expo Committee – Sign Up Now! Coordinates the biggest and best business-to-business trade show in the Valley. Meeting place, dates, and time TBA.
